Subscribe|Sponsor|Submit GPT|Top 2,500 GPTs
Hi friends – I’m testing the waters for something new.
If your feedback is good, I’ll start sending out a monthly GPT roundup (vote & give feedback at the end of this email).
My plan is to break down recent developments about custom GPTs and its growing ecosystem, and highlighting the most useful new GPTs each month.

I. OpenAI starts rolling out GPT monetisation to US builders
via Nick Dobos on X
Just as we're approaching the end of Q1, OpenAI starts rolling out their monetization program for GPT builders like they announced back in November last year.
Nick Dobos, creator of Grimoire (the 2nd ranked GPT), posted a screenshot on X of his invitation to participate in the pilot program in which his GPT will start earning based on usage.
The email emphasizes the need to be US-domiciled to be eligible, as well as requiring a response to get further details and also sign an agreement.
Why it matters
OpenAI is testing the best ways of paying GPT builders in order to advance its vision of an ecosystem (akin to the Apple app store). Up to this point, monetization opportunities for GPTs has been limited, so this initiative is very welcome, albeit it’s just a pilot at this point.
II. The GPT store accounts for 1.5% of ChatGPT traffic
Financial Times published an article last week showing limited traction for the GPT store so far, with web traffic to GPT pages constituting only 1.5% of ChatGPT's overall traffic.
Canva, which has one of the most popular GPTs was quoted saying that “We see it as an opportunity to meet users where they are”.
Why it matters
imo, the real challenge for GPTs is UX/UI related. OpenAI has the money and the distribution to solve the lack of traction easily in the short-term. But to become the app store for AI apps, some big frictions in the user experience need to be solved including slow speed, rigidity of the ChatGPT interface, and way too many approval steps.
I’m rooting to see GPTs becoming a value-add to users, rather than just another distribution channel for existing products.

How I’m ranking these GPTs
In case you were wondering – rankings are based on an algorithm that takes several aspects of GPTs into account. I'm trying to be as objective as possible, although manual reviews can also affect the ranks.
I’ve provided a bit more detail in the image below:
My goal is to make a system that surfaces useful and safe GPTs, while making it difficult to manipulate the ranks – but please keep in mind usage is at your own risk.

Convert text into lifelike speech with ElevenLabs (limited to 1,500 characters)
Dario: The best choice for doing free text to speech with ChatGPT. The whole voice generation process happens while you’re in the chat interface, and at the end you get a link to your audio. It’s a bit limited since you only have 5 voices to choose from and 1,500 characters, but still the best option of this type of GPT.

Describe your task and get a detailed mega-prompt generated for you.
Dario: Quite cool! Was a bit confused at first but here’s how to use it:
Give it a task and it creates a “mega-prompt” of that task
Open a new chat window and use the prompt you got. In this case, I uploaded Google Search Console data along with the prompt.
It identified underperforming pages (high impressions but low CTR) and included associated keywords to target. Also gave me recommendations on specific changes to make, but I found these to be quite generic.
