🧙🏼 Meta's AI search
Also: 73% of senior managers use AI weekly
Howdy, wizards.
Without further ado – here’s the most interesting things happening in AI today.
DARIO’S PICKS
OpenAI isn’t the only AI player working on its own search engine (SearchGPT). Meta is reportedly also developing a search engine that does “conversational answers” to queries, similar to Google’s AI overviews. The goal is to reduce its reliance on Google and Microsoft for providing these answers to its users through it’s Meta AI chatbot (available on IG, FB, WhatsApp and the web). There’s no public launch date on this, but it has been a project in the works for about eight months, according to The Information’s sources.
Why it matters With Google now expanding its AI search to over a billion users, it’s no wonder Meta—with its AI infra, distribution and financial means to be doing crawling at that scale—is also jumping into the search game.

DARIO’S PICKS
Google is rolling out its Gemini-powered “Help me write” feature to Gmail’s web version, allowing you to draft emails, and also do things like adjust tone and length, with AI. They’ve also introduced a new “Polish” tool with a handy hotkey (Ctrl + H) to quickly refine your messages. These features are rolling out to Google One AI Premium subscribers and Workspace users with the Gemini add-on starting today.
Why it matters Gmail’s new AI tools make drafting emails faster. I’d recommend using it thoughtfully – as many have noticed, relying on AI too much when writing can easily make you sound generic and impersonal.
DARIO’S PICKS
Wharton and GBK collective just published a detailed report on how businesses are adopting Gen AI, based on a longitudinal study of over 800 senior leaders.
Weekly Gen AI usage was at 72% in 2024 (up from 37% in 2023), and is especially used in departments like Marketing and HR. Gen AI shines in tasks like data analysis and contract drafting, but is still far from a game-changer for all business functions. Accuracy/bias, privacy and ethics are cited as key concerns. Companies remain excited about AI, but are still figuring out its true impact and ROI.

Why it matters The report highlights that the key to successful adoption will be finding “proper use cases that can scale”. I’ll do my best to keep bringing you real-world examples in this newsletter on the best ways companies are applying AI.
